Our Governors

We would like to say a big “Hello” to parents and carers and the local community from the Governors of Strong Close Nursery School. Providing the best possible start in life for your children is our key priority.

Do you have a question for us as Governors? We welcome any queries or comments you may have. As we are volunteers, we do not spend all our time at the School, however, we can always be contacted by asking at the office.

As a parent or carer there are many opportunities to visit / use our services and we hope you will take advantage of these and provide us with any feedback.

Our Governing Body has representatives from parents, staff and the Community. It is essential that we have parent Governors on our team and we periodically recruit for new parent Governors.

If you would like to know more about what it would be like to be a Governor, then please contact us at the main office and we will happily answer any questions you may have. Governors make up the largest group of volunteers in the country.

The governing body has 3 main roles:

  • to develop the strategy and contribute to the long term plans of the nursery school
  • to support the school as a critical friend
  • to monitor and evaluate the progress of the school ,ensuring systems and procedures are in place and followed.

The governing body consists of 9 governors and meets 6 times a year, with one meeting each half term, covering curriculum, school improvement, safeguarding, health and safety, special educational needs and finance.

The governing body reconstituted under the new school governance legislation in September 2014. All governors serve a term of 4 years.
